Giving to mission.

You might not realize it, but throughout the scriptures, the people of God are invited to a mission beyond themselves and are blessed so that they can be a blessing to others. We exist to overflow God’s blessings to our community, and a primary way we get to do this is through participating in financial generosity together.

Here at Midtown Vineyard, we rely on your generosity as we partner together to share the Gospel of Jesus, to see people transformed by God’s work in their lives, and care for the community around us.

We are aware of the Old Testament command to give a tithe (10%) and we believe that giving gets more exciting and more sacrificial as we move into the New Testament, therefore the tithe can be a helpful guide for us.  As New Testament people invite everyone to practice the 4 “P’s” of giving.

4 P’s of giving.

  • Priority

    This means we give first. It is the very first thing that we do with money.

  • Percentage

    This helps us know what to give. We like the question, “what do I truly want to give?” Then we give it, joyously and sacrificially.

  • Progressively

    Along the way we want to grow in our giving and our trust in God’s provision.

    Give Once → Give Consistently → Give Generously (moving toward 10%) → Give Radically (move beyond 10%)

  • Prompted

    When our heart is stirred by a need or project, we give.

Midtown Vineyard is committed to being a generous church in our community, generous in our church family, and generous in our world for the glory of God. We seek to extend mercy and justice into a broken world and to help people grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
